If your dog has a tendency to chew things he's not supposed to, be sure not to aggravate the problem by sending mixed messages. If he is not supposed to chew on shoes, then don't give him a shoe-shaped toy and allow him to chew on it. It's tough for a dog to tell the difference between a toy or "old" shoe and your new shoes!
