GALT Celebrates First-Ever Greyhound Awareness Month this September
From www.galtx.org:
In the past, Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) has celebrated 'Greyhound Planet' during a specific day or week in September. GALT's commitment this year is to dedicate the entire month of September as "Greyhound Awareness Month." The purpose is to promote awareness of the Greyhound as a family companion and pet, to educate the public about the status of greyhounds around the world, and to honor those greyhounds that are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
GALT's Greyhound Awareness Month will be celebrated with various events and fundraisers throughout September. This weekend, September 12 & 13, will be the focal point with the Greyhound Spa event at VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital and the Blessing of the Hounds and Memorial Celebration at Les Lacs Park in Addison. GALT is planning to have every adoptable greyhound (over 60 dogs) attend one of the eight Meet & Greets this weekend. If you are interested in adopting, fostering or helping GALT in any way, please visit one the events below to talk to a GALT representative.

Dogs can get sunburned too, so be sure to apply sunscreen when your dog will be out in the sun for extended periods of time. Apply sunscreen to the tips of his ears, bridge of his nose, groin area, inside of the legs and the underbelly. Be sure to use a sunscreen that does NOT contain PABA or Zinc Ozide (which is harmful to dogs if ingested) or a brand made specifically for dogs. |
