When housetraining your dog, be sure to praise him heavily when he "goes" in the right place. If you catch him relieving himself where he's not supposed to, make a loud noise (like clapping your hands) and quickly take him to his designated location. Do not yell or become angry. Your dog will think you don't like to see him go potty, and will try to hide his messes from you.
