This week, Dr. Manley answers a question about dogs catching colds from their owners.

This week's question:
Dr. Manley,
Is it possible for dogs to catch a cold or sinus infection from a human?

Thank you!
Debbie

Dr. Manley's Reply:
Hi Debbie,
Image Pets can get bacterial infections from their owners. Viruses, however, are more species specific. You can also get bacterial infections from your pet, although it's less likely. Usually the source of infection for a dog or a cat is another dog or cat, or a contaminated environment such as a veterinary clinic, daycare, groomer, or boarding kennel. Unfortunately, these are airborne germs and you can't sterilize the air.

Thanks for the question....Dr. Manley
