"Live your passion...dream big." These were the words spoken to Amelie Marchesseau by her older brother, who was battling cancer and wanted to encourage her to live her life with courage and follow her passion of painting and ceramics. Amelie decided to honor the memory of her brother by starting AmelieArt to express her love of animals and art, and has become one of Texas' most recognized pet artists.
Working from her studio in Dallas, Amelie creates pet portraits using acrylic on square canvases and producing art pieces with a bright, light-hearted feel. Her work has been featured in Southern Living and one of her portraits, "Brody", was auctioned for charity at a Black Tie Dinner, Inc. event. Her pet portraits so capture the personality of pets that one client said, “My friend's dog barked at the painting!” Amelie mostly paints on canvas or board surfaces, but she will work with her clients to produce a custom-sized portrait of almost any specification. You can see a sampling of her gorgeous paintings here.
Not only does Amelie have a talent for painting portraits, she also loves making ceramic art - including dog bowls, napkin rings, wine stoppers, plates, platters, and trivets. Many of her ceramic creations are viewable on her website - amelieart.com - but you can also see additional products, including collages and cards, at her Etsy site. Some of Emelie's ceramic art and paintings are currently on display at Pigment School of the Arts, located at 4605 West Lovers Lane in Dallas.
