If you have a dog that loves to burrow under blankets or simply likes a soft, cozy place to lie down, then Snuggle Sacks are a perfect way to pamper your pet. Snuggle Sacks were originally intended for small dogs that get cold easily, but they are great for any dog that likes the feel of soft fabric.

Daisy Mae's Snuggle Sacks are hand-made by Wendy Barkett of Dallas in her (non-smoking) home. Wendy originally began making Snuggle Sacks as gifts for her friends, but an unexpected and costly back surgery for her Dachshund, Daisy Mae, transformed Wendy's gifts into a great fundraiser to pay off the debt created by the surgery. As of April 2008, Daisy Mae's surgery has been paid in full, and Daisy Mae has recovered completely.

Snuggle Sacks are made of four layers of incredibly soft fleece. They measure approximately 20 by 30 inches and have an opening in one of the longer sides so your dog can crawl inside if she likes. My dogs mostly like to lie on top of it, but I have a feeling that will change when the weather cools down a bit more. The sides are fringed with soft knots that are hand-tied. These knots were another reason the Snuggle Sack was such a hit at my house. For some reason, Chewy likes to chew on clothes - jeans are his favorite - but as soon as he lay down on the Snuggle Sack he immediately began happily chewing on the fringe.

All Snuggle Sacks are machine-washable. To care for your Snuggle Sack, simply wash it in a low or gentle cycle and either air dry or use the fluff cycle in your dryer. Many people report that the sacks get softer with each wash. Wendy advises buyers to check the fringe knots occasionally and if they seem loose, just tighten them by hand.

Several patterns are available for your Snuggle Sack, but you'll need to check the website for current selections because they change often. Also, be aware that Wendy generally has one Snuggle Sack per pattern in her inventory. To ensure that she doesn't double-sell any one pattern, Wendy shuts down her website when she is at events selling Snuggle Sacks. If you want more than one Snuggle Sack in any single pattern, you'll need to contact her directly to make sure she has or can get enough material. Snuggle Sacks are available for purchase online for $35.00 each, which includes shipping to anywhere within the United States. Shipping to Canada is extra.
