If dog-sitting makes me this sad, I know I need more prep before fostering.
Since Thursday night, I’ve been dog-sitting a cute little 3-pound Chihuahua named Bridgette. She’s tiny but feisty, loves people and animals (including cats), and is a model canine citizen. She is also a littermate of Buster and Fudge, so I already had a bond with her. It was a great weekend, since my three (male) dogs treated her pretty well over her three days at Casa DallasDogLife. Bridgette’s master came home today and picked her up, and Bridgette was thrilled to see him. Me, not so much.
It’s not like I don’t have plenty of canine companionship. Chewy, Buster, and Fudge keep me as busy as I can handle, and are never short on affection. But there was something about having a little girl in the house that was so precious. She’s so dainty. She has “girl eyes.” I bought her a little pink harness halter. I painted her toenails. I almost bought her some “bling” from Cutie Pie Pets in Coppell. She just had that affect on me.
Everyone else loved her too. Bridgette elicited some really heartfelt awwww’s from my co-workers, more than even Chewy - the King of Cute - has heard. There were several times over the course of the weekend that I seriously contemplated adding another dog to the pack, which my dog-sitter and niece promptly vetoed. Of course, I know that’s not a good idea. My two Chis need a lot more training before I could even consider adding another dog. Plus, three dogs is plenty. I’m already late enough for work in the mornings as it is.
So Bridgette is back home, the pink doggie accessories have been put away, and now it’s just me and the fellas again. I wonder how mad Fudge would get if I tried to dress him up until I get over my withdrawal. Cutie Pie Pets had an extra-small black dog shirt with “SECURITY” written across the back. Not pink, but it’ll do.
Until next time!

I’m going back to FL soon! You can keep her again!
So, Bridgette is Velma’s sister? She’s small for 3 lbs. Velma weighs 8.5. Send me picture of her, if you dont mind.
