Last year's Top Hat & Tails sold out - in fact, we were forced to turn people away. This year we have moved to the more spacious facilities of the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field, but we expect a full house again. The Flight Museum will be transformed through the sounds of the Big Bands and the look of the great dance halls of the 1940's. Our success is due to the amazing commitment of the community in support of our goals and that Top Hat & Tails is simply the most fun of any charity event in Dallas. We feature a celebrity dance contest along with a sit down dinner, cocktails, live and silent auction. The dance floor will be open to all both before dinner and after the dance competition.
The dance competition will pair celebrities with Arthur Murray dance instructors. One dance routine will be performed by each couple and judged by a panel of technical and high profile judges. The judges' scores will be combined with our gala guest's votes to determine the winner of the Lucy Award.
Last year, celebrity dancers included Joe Avezzano, Kristine Kahanek, Ron Kirk, Carolyn Shamis, Megan Norris, Brian Cuban, JD Ryan and Nita Wiggins and the celebrity judges included Tony Dorsett, Kellie Rasberry and Claudia Marshall. Paws In the City is delighted that Preston Pearson, Dallas Cowboy Great, and emcee Scott Murray will be returning as our hosts.
Confirmed dancers for 2009 so far are:
Richard Chamberlain, Chef and owner of Chamberlain's restaurants
Jose Guzman, former Texas Ranger pitcher
Laurie Phillips, wife of Dallas Cowboy head coach, Wade Phillips
Becky Nguyen, wife of former Dallas Cowboy Dat Nguyen
Maia Burnett, wife of current Dallas Cowboy, Kevin Burnett
We are still booking 5 more dancers, so keep checking our website for updated information.
To see all the fun and excitement from last year, please go to Top Hat and Tails. There is a Part 1 and Part 2 video. All agree it is a fantastic, unique and fun event!
