Puppy Obedience Group Class Print
Saturday, May 01 2010, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm by UnleashedDogParks Hits : 257

In our beginner puppy obedience class, we start with the basics of how dogs learn and how we, as humans, can begin to understand them. Along with basic obedience skills, common everyday behavior issues like jumping and greetings are addressed as well as how to turn your dog’s focus to you instead of all the other distractions in the world.

We at Unleashed feel that a proper and healthy diet is an important part of your dog's life. We can help you understand what to look for in dog foods and what to avoid so that your dog can live a long and healthy life. Special puppy challenges will be addressed such as mouthing or nipping, proper socialization, housetraining, building their confidence, and showing your puppy the world to increase their exposure and reduce their overall fears.

This class meets for 7 weeks (1 hour each week). Your first week’s is our Training Orientation and is for Owners only, no dogs please. You are more than welcome to enroll them into playcare if you like where they play in our off-leash parks while you are in "school!" We will be covering the different leashes/collars and which one would work best for your dog and your lifestyle. We also discuss the foundations of training and why it works the way it does.

Please have dogs on a 6 foot leash. "Flexi-Leads,” “Retractable,” or "Extendable" leashes are not allowed during training.

Dogs can get sunburned too, so be sure to apply sunscreen when your dog will be out in the sun for extended periods of time. Apply sunscreen to the tips of his ears, bridge of his nose, groin area, inside of the legs and the underbelly. Be sure to use a sunscreen that does NOT contain PABA or Zinc Ozide (which is harmful to dogs if ingested) or a brand made specifically for dogs.
