EARS 2nd Annual Dog Wash - CANCELED DUE TO RAIN Print
Sunday, October 04 2009, 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm by admin Hits : 268

Mark your calendars! Invite your friends! Line up those pups and come to the EARS 2nd Annual Dog Wash and Meet and Greet Day! With many of the rescues that we have taken in lately, we desperately need to raise money for their vet care. Our goal is to raise $3000 to help our mission of saving homeless animals.

EARS is hosting our 2nd Annual Dog Wash Fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 13th from 12:00 - 4:00pm.

Happy Tails Doggie Daycare has donated their parking lot again this year and we're including a customer lounge so people can relax in style while their pooches get pampered.

Happy Tails Doggie Daycare is located at 10121 E. Northwest Hwy, Dallas 75238 between Audelia and Plano Road.

We're hoping for a great turnout to raise money to help defray the cost of our dogs' medical bills. We have recently taken in many dogs from two recent puppy mill busts and their medical bills to get them ready for adoption have been skyrocketing. A few of them had general medical issues but then one had mange, another had ringworms, and others had ear problems. Another one is Elvis, a Yorkie/Silky Terrier mix who has TWO subluxating patellas and will require surgery on at least one. His expenses alone add up to over $2000. In addition, we have two dogs requiring heartworm treatment and another young dog that we just nursed through pneumonia. We have a puppy whose front legs didn't develop correctly due to malnutrition and neglect. We are having to splint her legs and get them re-wrapped weekly. We get charged every time the legs are re-wrapped. If the splints don't work, surgery may be involved. The list of needs just goes on and on. However, be assured that 100% of the money received goes to help pay these medical bills.

If you or your friends and co-workers can't attend, but want to help, please direct them to the "Donate Now" link on the flyer or on our website, http://www.earstexas.org/.

In addition, if you or your friends would like to be a part of EARS news and events, please join EARS on Facebook, a growing community of volunteers and animal advocates who want to make a difference in Dallas!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Dogs can get sunburned too, so be sure to apply sunscreen when your dog will be out in the sun for extended periods of time. Apply sunscreen to the tips of his ears, bridge of his nose, groin area, inside of the legs and the underbelly. Be sure to use a sunscreen that does NOT contain PABA or Zinc Ozide (which is harmful to dogs if ingested) or a brand made specifically for dogs.
