Dog Days of Summer - Longview Print
Saturday, August 15 2009, 10:00 am - 1:45 pm by admin Hits : 219

The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department announces the Dog Days of Summer. After the pools close for the summer, Parks & Recreation Aquatics will host the Dog Days of Summer (Dog Swim) from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at Longview Swim Center, located at 1111 W. Fairmont. The cost will be $3 per dog and owners will enter free of charge. A free tennis ball will be given to the first 50 entrants. Dogs must show proof of current rabies vaccinations to enter the pool. Any dog showing aggression or a female in season will not be allowed in the pool. Owners may wade in the pool but will be asked not to swim and to ensure their dog(s) is on a leash when not in the water. There will be door prizes and refreshments for your pooch. Be sure to ‘fetch’ your favorite canine and join us for this quirky and ‘howlarious’ event.

Location: Longview Swim Center, 1111 W. Fairmont, Longview

Dogs can get sunburned too, so be sure to apply sunscreen when your dog will be out in the sun for extended periods of time. Apply sunscreen to the tips of his ears, bridge of his nose, groin area, inside of the legs and the underbelly. Be sure to use a sunscreen that does NOT contain PABA or Zinc Ozide (which is harmful to dogs if ingested) or a brand made specifically for dogs.
